The Lakeview vineyard was re-imagined a few years ago, with new clones introduced. The impact is now clear. This wine provides the simple answer to why people fall in love with Pinot Noir. It doesn’t require much thought or evaluation, it’s in your face fun, the kind of wine that inspires devotion. There’s an aromatic explosion of bright red candied fruit and sweet oak, even though the oak has been dialed back a bit from previous vintages. Soft and luscious, with plush tannins and a hint of earthiness, it’s the kind of wine called ‘pretty’. Well structured, simply put, a thing of beauty.
Winemaking:
- Grapes are hand-picked, hand sorted twice, 100% de-stemmed
- Five day pre-fermentation cold maceration
- BGY yeast
- Native malolactic fermentation in barrel
- Battonage weekly for three months
- Aged 11 months sur lie in French oak, 25% new, balance once and twice filled
- New French Oak Coopers: Atelier COF & Radoux Integration
- Bottled 100% unfined and lightly filtered on August 4, 2015
