2016 Pratt Vineyard Pinot Noir

Jim Pratt began developing this vineyard in the late 1990's, on a site south of Graton and west of Sebastopol on the far western portion of the Sonoma Coast in an area known as the Sebastopol Hills.  The slightly sloping hillside receives the classic morning fog and warm afternoons common to the coastal region, producing fruit with great acidity.

This vineyard is on the western edge of the Russian River where the vines morph into the Sonoma Coast and you get luscious flavors of black raspberry and huckleberry with exotic floral notes of Hibiscus.  I am really attracted to the depth and plush entry of the wine that leads to a vanilla oak finish, with beautiful intensity and length.

WINEMAKING

  • Grapes are hand-picked and hand-sorted twice
  • 5-day pre-fermentation cold maceration
  • Native malolactic fermentation in barrel
  • Aged 11 months in French Oak, 33% new
  • Bottled unfined and unfiltered July 2017

CLONES

  • 114 & 777
