The Mardikian Estate Vineyard is located in the far reaches of the West Sonoma Coast - close to the town of Freestone, this site is often described as challenging and extreme.  Planted in 2008 to a careful selection of 8 clones and 2 rootstocks chosen to offer a distinct level of flavor and complexity and intrigue.  Steep slopes of well drained, fine samdy loam are often shrouded in a maritime blanket of fog that begins to burn off just about noon, which allows for extended hang time and builds in extra complexity to the wines.

On this vintage, aromas of ripe black cherries and clove are complemented by flavors of dark berries and notes of forest floor.  Silky, elegant tannins work in tandem with the layered flavors and hints of smoke as a subtle acidity provides a beautiful lift to complete the wine.

WINEMAKING
• Pinot Noir grapes were hand-picked and hand sorted in the field and at the winery
• 100% De-stemmed - whole berries to fermenter
• 100% Native Fermentation
• Aged sur lie 11 months - 35% New French Oak
• Bottled unfined and unfiltered, July 2018
