2018 Wightman House Vineyard Pinot Noir

This tiny vineyard (1.68 acres) is planted to a single clone and can only be described as a labor of love. MacPhail Wines has a ten-year history with the vineyard, and is the only winery sourcing fruit here. The Martini clone of Pinot Noir produces distinctive fruit with earthy, herbal notes often described as robust, and just as often as a favorite of Anderson Valley.

Located on the valley floor in Boonveille, the Wightman House Vineyard hets full sun bit is dramatically impacted by its closeness to Anderson Creek, where cool coastal breezes are drawn in, which allows fruit to pause and gain complexity before being greeted by the warm sun. This wine is always complex and delivers beautiful, perfumed aromas with tea rose and fresh red raspberries intertwining over a backdrop of sandalwood. Silky tannins provide a roundness as black plums and huckleberry harmonize with smoky notes and eath tones on the long finish.
